Reordering Entries inside a Category

daigo 18 Mar 2010 18:36 question, complete

Hi Low,

first of all, I want to thank you for your great software :)

I wonder if it is possible to reorder Entries inside a Category. My setup is the following:

Channel:
"Image Gallery"

Custom Fields:
- "Title" (Text Input)
- "Image" (File)
- "Order" (Low Reorder)

Categories:
- “Jan 2009”
- “Feb 2009”
- “Mar 2009”
- ...

One Entry is assigned to one Category.

One Category holds ~35 Images (= ~35 Entries)

If I now select the "Image Gallery"-Channel from Reorder's Module, I get a list of every Entry/Image. Of course, this is not maintainable (~520 Entries/Images).

Is it possible to order these Entries inside their Category? If not, will there be an Update?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Daigo

    Hey Daigo,

I guess the only way to do this now, is to create a new reorder field for each category and apply the correct settings to each channel/field combo. But if you have lots of categories, which seems to be the case here, that is a bit cumbersome.

Basically, what you'd want, is a step in between the Low Reorder home screen and the Reorder entries screen. In that step, you'd select which category you want to display/reorder.

This seems feasible, so I'll add it to the feature request list. :)

Daigo, version 1.0.1 now allows per category sorting of entries.
