EE 5.3, LowSearch 6.2 "An error occurred building the index'

Paul Larson 27 Nov 2019 17:14 problem, complete

I haven't seen this one before. This is an EE2 site upgraded to EE5.

If I click 'View Response' it displays: 200: success

Can you see a JavaScript error in the console, and if so, what does that say?

Nothing in the console I'm afraid.

I'll need to take a look myself. Please send SuperAdmin login credentials to hi at gotolow dot com if you can.

In the Ajax response, I can see 2 carriage returns on top, which shouldn't be there.

I'm also seeing that in the source of the CP itself, before the doctype.

Looks like somewhere, something is putting those lines in, and that messes up the response parser for LS.

Maybe re-upload the files for EE and LS?

    Will do.

Wonder what the culprit could be?

    Low,

Upon re-uploading system/ee and themes/ee from a fresh EE 5.3 download, as well as re-uploading LS 6.2, I still have the same error upon rebuilding a collection.

I changed the low_search.js file to account for the extra whitespace in the responses. Can't say where the whitespace comes from, but it should not be there, nor should LS be responsible for fixing it. Nevertheless, the issue is solved for now.

Great! Is this 'future proof' should the live server not exhibit the extra whitespace? (just checking, since this will move to a new server @ launch)

I'll make sure to add the changes to the next version.
