Low Search - Some collections show the wrong excerpt

farmco 24 Aug 2018 09:56 problem, complete

Hi Low,

We're starting to implement Low Search on a client site. We've set up all collections and carefully chosen each excerpt field. On the results page some channels show the proper content for {low_search_excerpt}, but others grab the beginning of the first available searchable field instead.

I don't know if it has anything to do but if I try to paste the index rebuild action url on the browser I get a "Error: Invalid action". Perhaps it's not rebuilding correctly? Any suggestions?

We're using EE 3.5.15 and Low Search 5.2.
Thanks in advance!

The "Invalid Action" message is probably because you haven't added an entry ID or collection ID, not related to this particular issue.

That said, the excerpt field defined in the collection is only used for keyword searches. If no keyword search is triggered, the excerpt field defined in the Channel preferences is used. Might this be the case?

We're passing the keyword and it's working nicely. That being said, choosing the right field on the channel preferences did the job. Thanks!
