Low Search / Ignore Word returns every entry in results

Josh Brodleit 3 Aug 2018 18:06 idea, pending

Low Search "Ignore Words" in EE 4.1.2 still able to search only an ignore word. For example, searching the word "the" returns every entry in the search results. Any idea how to resolve this so that "the" still ignores for example "the world" search and not just "the"?

Ignore Words are stripped from the keywords before the search query is executed. So, searching for just an ignored word will act as though no keywords were given.

Are you asking that the user shouldn’t be able to submit ignore words only?

This isn't the behavior I'm getting. When I submit word "the" by itself, search results show all page entries. When I search an arbitrary word like "hello" I get "No results for “hello”. Check your spelling or try a different search term."

The latter is what I would expect when searching only the word, "the" for example. And note, "the" isn't included in any of the fields I set to be searchable.

So you’re saying you’d want to trigger No Results when a user submits ignore words only?

    Correct

Okay. I’ll look into making that an option.
