Low Search 6.0.1 not finding Category Field entry (EE 4.2.1)

Gavin Lawrie 11 May 2018 16:57 question, complete

Have added a category field to store 'alternative search terms' - so for example to add "Bung" as an alias for the category title "Plugs".

The category field is a simple text field.
The category field has been given a weighting of 3 in Low Search collection.
The collection index has been rebuilt.

Searching for Bung finds no results.
Searching for the Category name finds the full set of items in the category.

Grateful for guidance concerning what I am doing wrong...

Can't replicate, but I can see another quirk because of this bug (which EllisLab is reluctant to call a bug).

Can you try and save the entry again, and perhaps look up the index in exp_low_search_indexes (by entry_id)?

Hi. Yep done all those things... here is a quick photo tour...

Here is the field entry for category "plug" (ID=8).

Here is the category field entry with 'Bung' in it

Here is the Low Search collection showing category field is included in collection

Here is a channel entry showing that it is in the "plugs" category

Here is the results when I search for the word "Bung" in exp_low_search_indexes

And here is the index entry for the entry shown earlier

it is quite possible that I'm doing something daft - just useful to know what... as it would be very good if I could get the 'alternative search term' category field to be included in the search index.

Thanks alot for taking an interest / helping. Appreciated.

I'll need to take a look myself (some time in the weekend). Please send SuperAdmin login credentials to hi at gotolow dot com if you can.
