Adding better partial searches

Barry Moore 27 Apr 2017 14:10 question, complete

Hi
We are using your extension on our client's site.
Is there any way to add a wild card so that the partial is more powerful. As an example if we were to search post codes and wanted all versions of say "345", so if the user search for say "345678" they would find all entries with "345".
Hence why we wondered if a wildcard would work
Barry

You can use wildcards when using the keywords:mode="auto", see http://gotolow.com/addons/low-search/...

Like that, using "345*" would match "345678".

However, "345678" will never match just "345". You'd need a custom filter/extension for that to work.

Thanks for the reply. Yes we don't see to get any better results for "auto" as compared to "all".

What filter/extension would you suggest. And if it needs custom writing are you interested in giving me a cost.

    Thanks

Are you saying that with the search mode set to auto and using a keyword like 345* it doesn't return the entry containing 345678? Because LS should return it.

The filter/extension would have to be custom, but might not entirely necessary if the above suffices.
