low_googlesearch: fatal error on installation

when trying to install low_googlesearch in the modules screen, I get a fatal php error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method Addons_modules::get() in path-to/expressionengine/third_party/low_googlesearch/upd.low_googlesearch.php on line 78 (EE 2.10.1 - Build: 20150501)
What's going wrong here?

   You're probably trying to install the EE3 version on EE2. Check out the main add-on page on devot:ee; you should be able to download the legacy version which is compatible with EE2 (v1.3.1).

   I'll ask my client to download the proper version for me and then I'll try again :-)
