Unable to load the requested file: col_settings_tmpl.php

rstokes 25 Mar 2015 15:43 problem, complete

Hi. I'm having a problem with Low Variables, which appears to have only occurred recently (since I updated to v2.60).

When I try to edit ANY channel field, the following error is thrown:
Unable to load the requested file: col_settings_tmpl.php

After searching on the EllisLab EE community support forum, I found the following article.
https://ellislab.com/forums/viewthrea...

If you read through the posts (including and particularly the comments towards the end of page 2) it appears to be a problem with third party add-ons on EE 2.7.0+ when they call add_package_path() but don't balance this with remove_package_path() when they are finished.

I searched through all of my third party add-on files for add_package_path() and a handful call it. Some also call remove_package_path(), some don't. Low Variables is one that doesn't call remove_package_path() once it is finished ... and it appears to be recommended practice by EllisLab to call it.

I uninstall/disabled all third party add-ons, one-by-one, that don't call remove_package_path() to see if this fixes the issue with editing channel fields - it didn't. Until I disabled Low Variables in Extensions. Once I did that, it worked - I can edit channel fields again!

Therefore, I can only conclude that the issue lies with the Low Variables add-on. Please can you take a look at this and advise? This is a pretty big problem for me if I can't either amend any channel fields, or use Low Variables.

Regards,
Rob

I'll need to take a look myself. Please send SuperAdmin and FTP login credentials to hi at gotolow dot com if you can.

This was somehow caused by a stray _low_variables folder in the third_party directory. Removing this solved the issue.

    Hi Low,

I'm having this same problem after upgrading Low Events. I have double-checked that I don't have any duplicate third party folders, and I tried deleting and reinstalling the low_events folder.

I also noticed that even though Low Events is at version 1.5.0, when I run module updates it shows as version 1.4.1.

    Best,
    Geoff

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main one, so I created a new conversation to continue the discussion.
