Very strange behaviour when reordering entries - Low Reorder overrides with a seemingly random order

Jordan Moore 20 Aug 2014 11:16 problem, active

Hey Low,

This is a strange one - and a bit of an admin nightmare. We have a set of 1050 entries that is misbehaving in the EE CP under Low Reorder. We recently moved the site to a new server and ever since any time I click Save in Low Reorder - even if I haven't changed the order - the page will reload with my entries in a random order looking very different to the order I just chose.

As you can imagine, it's a bit of an admin nightmare to go back through 1050 entries and reorder them every time - we have been restoring the original order through a DB backup but it's not ideal.

Any ideas? We are absolutely perplexed and a bit weary after having to restore again and again.

Many thanks,
Jordan

A strange issue indeed. It might be environmental: the server can't handle 1050 inputs in one page, although that usually results in a server error instead of quietly failing. You can try to add something like this to your .htaccess file:

    php_value max_input_vars 2000
If that doesn't work, I'd have to take a look myself. But perhaps that would be easier if I set up a copy of the site locally. Could you then send a copy of your DB to hi at gotolow dot com, along with any version info (EE, PHP
