Low NoSPam 1.1.0: "Your API key appears to be invalid"

Yann 1 Jul 2014 19:20 problem, rejected

Client tells me they just noticed users can't register on their forum anymore. When I login the CP, that's the error message I get... But there's no UI to change anything. I installed this years ago and I don't remember the details + I can't find docs for this version of the add-on. Any pointer in the right direction MUCH appreciated!

Thanks,

It's a message given back by the anti-spam service. It might be that you have been using TypePad AntiSpam, which has been discontinued, and therefore doesn't work anymore. Switching to Akismet might help.

But How do I switch? I don't see any UI element on the add-on page to modify settings... Sorry if I'm missing something obvious. Can't find old docs.

    Thanks!!!

The EE1 version isn't supported anymore, but the API key settings should be in the Extension settings.

If you're not seeing the option to choose either Akismet or TypePad AntiSpam, then Akismet is already the default, and the key is now not valid. This isn't something Low NoSpam can prevent or handle; the validity is done by the service.

If you do see the service option in the extension settings, and it's set to TypePad AntiSpam, you'll need to register a new key over at akismet.com.

    Thanks. That helped.
