Range search through Matrix columns

Hi there,

I have a Matrix field holding a minimum and maximum value. I'm trying to modify the range example to work with it, but it doesn't:

Is it even possible to search Matrix-columns? The example in the docs gets a little over my head.

    The Ranges filter doesn't support Matrix/Grid columns at the moment. However, you can use the Field Search filter instead: 

    name="search:matrix_field:column_name" value=">50"
