Exclude category from set

maxwellhibbert 29 May 2014 05:41 idea, pending

It would be great if it were possible to have a reorder set that shows entries in all categories except a selected one (or more).

Couldn't you just select all categories but one?

I'm not sure how my email address has replaced the original subject I posted, but it has! Could you please do me a favour and remove that because I don't seem to have that privilege!

    Anyway, onto the issue:

What if I have an entry that belongs to a few of the allowed categories, but I need to exclude it from the reorder set?

Also, the reorder set would then have to be updated every time a category is added..

I also have a channel of entries that don't have categories, so I'd then have to update all of those entries with a new category, just so they show up in the set.

Another solution might be to have a dedicated channel field that lets you filter the set.

Adding such a filter (exclude x) opens up more questions: do you do the same for statuses, channels, etc?

That's a good idea for getting around it, I'll just add a channel field to each channel and exclude using each of those in the set settings.

I still think for situations like this that an "all categories except these:" option for each set would be really handy.

    Thanks for your quick responses,
