Problem with formatting textareas in Low Variables

Jim Lakey 17 Sep 2013 23:01 problem, active

I'm using EE 2.7.0 and Low Variables 2.4.0 and I have two problems, both around using textareas with formatting. The first was that when I create a variable using RTE, the paragraph and break tags are being stripped out, but not link tags, for instance. This usually happens, but weirdly not always. It looked like in the changelog this had been fixed in 2.4 but I am still having the problem. I installed NSM Tiny MCE as a way around this, but now, when I try and save a variable with that field type and it is the second one in a group with the Tiny MCE field type, the variable doesn't save properly (on the front end it outputs the unparsed tags) and none of the Tiny MCE controls appear around the textarea in the control panel.

Any thoughts? I can post a screencast to show what I'm talking about if that would help.

    I went ahead and made a 3 min screencast to show the issue as I'm not sure how I clear I was above. Also, it seems if I change the group of the variable, it can coexist with another Tiny MCE fieldtype variable. The error only comes up in the original group it was assigned to, which is the one it needs to be in.

    The rich text variable type will need the Tag syntax to get the correct output, not the Var syntax. Try and use this instead:

    {exp:low_variables:single var="my_rte_var"}

    Thanks, I'll give that a try.

    Just got round to trying that and it didn't work. Using the above tag syntax made no difference. It still strips the p tags.

    Can't seem to replicate. Is this online somewhere so I can take a look myself? You can send superadmin login credentials to hi at gotolow dot com.
