Copy Low Events dates to native entry and expiration date fields

thoughtful_web 20 Mar 2013 10:49 idea, complete

Hi Low,

It would be useful if any dates added to the Low Events field were also copied the the native entry and expiration date fields, or at least had the option to do this when creating the custom field.

This way, Low Search could display mixed results (including events), but the visibility of the results would be controlled by the native entry and expiration date.

The low_events: prefix works brilliantly for displaying events only, but I thought this solution would be useful when displaying mixed result as, currently, all events are shown as they don’t contain an expiration date.

This would also help display the entries on the edit page in the correct order. My clients have mentioned that as the entry_date sometimes doesn’t correlate with the date they’ve added to an event, it can be confusing and difficult for them to find the event in the edit page entry listing.

Thanks,

Simon

It's been requested before. I'm hesitant about this, because as soon as I meddle with EE's native entry/expiration dates, the whole DST debacle comes into play. It seems like EllisLab is doing something about that in EE2.6, so that might give me reason to reconsider.

It would make a really great edition in my opinion.

The site I’m currently building would benefit from displaying mixed results, and the only way to do that would be to get my client to manually copy the Low Event dates to the expiration field. I know what they’ll say to that.

I have my fingers and toes crossed that you may introduce this when 2.6 is released.
