Multiple Calendars with Multiple Events

jonwrightdesign 19 Mar 2013 12:01 question, complete

Hi there, I'm currently working on a proposal for a new client who wants a travel website.

The site is going to offer travel information for various cities around the world.

They want an events calendar for each city, plus a 'global' events calendar that will contain all the events in all the other calendars.

Is this possible with Low Events?

It somewhat depends on your setup, but yes, that should be possible. Say, for example, that a city = a category. Then you can just assign a city/category to an event and filter the listing/calendar by category ID.

Hi Low, thanks for the quick reply.

I was thinking of creating an Events channel, then assigning events to a City using related entries and Playa.

Then to display the 'full' calendar I'd display the Events channel as normal.

Do you think that would be compatible?

You could use Playa's Parent IDs or Child IDs tags to generate a pipe-separated list of entry IDs for the Events channel, and then feed that list to the entry_id="" parameter of the low_events:entries and/or low_events:calendar tags.

Slightly more tricky, but definitely possible.
