can low search display exact results and more flexible results at the same time?

outline4 10 Feb 2013 11:27 question, complete

hi low,

A customer of mine wants to have a search form that always gives certain results.
The search queries are very limited.

It's a form for renting apartments. so the search queries are limited to the number of rooms, the amount you want to spend, the city you're in.

the client wants to always have an output.
if there's no 2 rooms apartments, he wants to show 3 rooms apartments, and if there are no 3 rooms, he wants to show 4 rooms, the same for the amount and cities.
so the combination of all those elements should be possible.

I might have to think about the logic again, but just as a starter: would you think that it's feasible?

There's no way to do "if this is empty, search for that" in Low Search at the moment. You could sort of mimic it for amounts by using Ranges; always searching for a given amount and up.

The same idea for cities would be much harder to do, if at all...
