Downgrading Reorder?

ejaeDesign 21 Dec 2012 05:36 question, complete

Hi Low,

I've upgraded a site from 1.6.0 to 2.5.3. I added the latest version of Reorder but it's not recognizing the old method of using a custom field to sort the entries (i.e., there is no "set" found in the new Reorder settings page).

Is it safe to download to a previous version of Reorder or somehow use the migrated "reorder custom field"?

Thanks!

    There is no official downgrade path, but as long as the custom field is still there, you should be able to migrate it.

    Uninstall the current LR version;
    Install version 1.2.1 (the latest with the custom field -- email me if you don't have it);
    Change the custom field that contains the order back to a Low Reorder field;
    Go to the LR module and save the settings of each channel/field combo that you want to migrate;
    Upgrade to 2.1.1, which then should have migrated all combo's you saved at least once to LR sets.

    Thanks Low -- just wanted to make sure the data in the current custom field (still there) aren't deleted when I remove the field.

    Much appreciated!

    P.S. Still sorry I didn't get to say hello at the EECI this year

    Well, when you remove the field itself, the data *will* be lost. If you simply change the type, the data should remain in it.

    You've probably already seen this, but be sure to follow the upgrade instructions mentioned here: http://gotolow.com/addons/low-reorder...

    Thanks Low.

    Yup - not removing the field at all. Just uninstalling the module (but not changing the fieldtype itself beforehand).

    I'll back up the DB just in case.
