loose_ends question

jwmatlock 8 Nov 2012 23:39 question, complete

If I have the loose_ends parameter set to yes, should a search for "angels" pull up results that have the keyword "angel" (singular)?

If so, this isn't working for me. Ideas?

With the loose_ends parameter, "angel" would match "angels", but not the other way round, I'm afraid.

Thanks. I have just been making sure to tag entries with plurals instead of singular keywords.

I'm having the same issue. I have Low Search set up on a clothing site. The search term "dress" returns all of the dresses, as that term is included in the title for the products, but "dresses" returns nothing.

Is Jonathan's solution the best available solution to this issue?

I'd be very interested in a programmatic solution, though.

At this moment, having a (hidden) field where you enter aliases, plurals/singulars, etc, would be the best way to go about it, yes.

I'll put plural handling on the list for investigation.

I strongly support this functionality as well. I'm working on a baby products site, and searches for "strollers" doesn't pull up any results with "stroller".

Hey Low. I've literally just come here with the same question. We have a tourism site for a major city in the UK and they asked why searches for "markets" doesn't return entries that only have "market" in them.

So if I can +1 this feature. :)

    +1 on this as well

    Hi Low,

Have there been any updates on this feature request? We're looking for the same functionality.

No updates so far. Because it's language specific, it's hard to find a solution that works across the board.
