End Date

Joobs 16 Jul 2012 18:20 question, complete

I'm creating a website for a theater. They usually only input a start date without an end date. Do you have to have an end date?

One thing that I found quite useful in EEvent Helper was you could automatically set the end date to 11:59 of that day, is this something Low Events can do?

Thanks

    Currently, entering an end date/time is necessary, but displaying it is not.

    Oh, and it's not possible at the moment to set the end time to a specific time, I'm afraid. Could be a feature request, though.

    Thanks Low

    I would like to make that feature request, since I can imagine many kind of events that don't have a specific end time. Maybe a tick box similar to the "all day" with "ends midnight" or have that a the default select option?

    One more question.

    Say there is an event in the morning that lasts an hour, but it's now afternoon, but you still want to show there was an event this morning even though it's expired.
    Is it possible to show that morning event plus the upcoming 10 events, maybe something like:
    date="{current_time format='%Y-%m-%d'} 00:01"?

    Thanks again

    By the looks of it, the two issues here are related. You'd like to set the end time to midnight so it stays on the page the entire day. The same goes for your last question, when the event does have a regular end time but has passed on that day.

    Thinking of a more elegant solution, how about a parameter like show_passed_events="today" or something similar. This would tell the tag (when showing upcoming events) to include events that have passed today.

    Would something like that work for you?

    Actually, the default behaviour for the upcoming events list, is to show all events for today and onwards. That includes events that may already have passed in the morning if it's afternoon.
