Search Results unstable as new content is added.

Peter Riley Osborne 13 Jul 2012 18:27 question, complete

Hello, you are probably sick of me already, but I have another issues with our search form. There are the three drop downs that run three different search collections. The third one, the course one, has two issues that seem to come up every time they add content.

Basically, when new content is added, I will sometimes get no results when searching for a course by its search title (which is generated dynamically in the drop down select form) even though it matches exactly to that custom field.

My fix has been to go into the admin and update the indexes, but every time I go to them, they have the message that says they need to be re-indexed, even if I just indexed them.

So I am not sure if I just have to keep re-indexing every time I publish data or if there is something wrong with the code. I can provide you any additional code you need or access to my cpanel if you want. Thanks!

    Hi Peter,

I still have access to your site. I've tried to enable the Output Profiler for better debugging, but it isn't showing up for me. Do you have that hardcoded somewhere to not show up?

Low, thanks for getting back to me! I don't think it is hard coded not to show up but the main directory is above the root, so it might have some issues. I set the debug to 1 to allow it for all logins just in case that was an issue.

Let me know if you still have any issues and thanks again!

I managed to fix the issue where the list of indexes would not be updated correctly. Let me know if the problem still persists now.

So great! Thanks man! This seems to have worked.
