Low Search results filter search param by channel/collection

philipzaengle 25 May 2012 14:07 idea, pending

This is an idea / feature request.

I would like to be able to add search params to the low search results tag pair such as search:custom_field="1" but have that param only apply to channels (collections) that belong to the field group that owns the custom field specified.

Right now I have multiple channels that have a toggle field that indicates the field is public or private. Since the channels all use different field groups the field names don't match up.

Thoughts?

Also - I realize I may be able to accomplish this by using something that is shared between all channels such as statuses or categories... But I'm not a huge fan of lots of statuses, and there's something about categories that seems dirty.

Could you also do this with conditionals on the channel/collection name, perhaps?

If I'm following correctly that would prevent users from accessing certian channels/collections - I'm looking to prevent access on a entry basis.

Then I'm not quite sure I follow. Could you give me some example code + output of your idea?
