search:title="[search_keywords]" still searches other fields too

electriclabs 17 Apr 2012 16:30 problem, rejected

Hi Low,

Last ticket I promise (for today at least ;))

So I've got most stuff working great, but having an issue with the search:[fieldname] param. With custom fields, it works _perfectly_ but when I set it to search:title="[search_keywords]" it will still search all the other fields too, giving me strange results. Is there another way (like the normal EE search) that I can tell it to just search titles?

Thanks again, I do really appreciate you getting back to my tickets.

P.S. I owe you a beer in Leiden!

    Hey Rob,

Sorry, currently the search:channel_field only works like with the regular channel:entries tag, so only with custom fields. You can only search for Title only if you create a collection where only the title has weight.

But being able to use search:title might be quite interesting to add. I'll consider it a feature request.

    Ohhhhhh,

[lightbulb moment] ok so I didn't realise that a weigh of 'none' would mean that a field wasn't searched at all. D'oh. I was switching the search: field to do custom fields but instead I could just switch the collection name instead (and it would probably be faster in the longrun). Good solution, thankyou!

If you're creating a collection with just a title, then check this, please.
