Specify which Low Variables group to open based on the URL

jannisg 18 May 2011 09:01 idea, complete

It would be nice if we could somehow specify (via the URL) which LV group is being shown to the user.

In my specific use case for example I am using the Flexible Admin addon to create a custom nav bar based on the content structure of the site.
It would be great to be able to link each section to its variable group directly so that my dropdown for the "Work Section" for instance would read:

"Work Section"
- Add new work (publishes into channel)
- Edit work (brings up edit overview matching the work channel)
- Work LV (this would then bring up the LV interface with the group relating to the work section variables).

If I'm not making myself clear, please feel free to ask questions or ask me to elaborate.

Anyway, I think this would be a great idea, perhaps others think so too...

    Planned for v2.0.

Has this been added? Are there any examples?

I'm still trying to get my head around the power of Low Variables, so I can use your module to its full capabilities.

Well, each group has its own page in the Low Variables control panel, so you could add new menu items in the main menu by going to a group and then clicking the "+ add" button in the main CP menu.
