New fieldtypes for Low Variables

Andrew Mac 27 Aug 2010 07:50 question, complete

I have updated to Low Variables 1.3.1 and all the latest P&T add-ons (Wygwam, Dive Bar). I guess that I could have just misunderstood things, but I did have the impression that would be enough to allow me to use those fieldtypes in Low Variables ... but they don't show up. I just get the standard LV fieldtypes, and none of the PT ones ...

Is there something else I need to do to enable the new fieldtype integration in LV?

Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to give

Just go to the extension settings and select the types you wish to enable. New types are disabled by default.

[edit] I see that setting hasn't been documented yet, my bad. I'll add this to the docs.

    Excellent ... perfect ... and D'OH!

    I just plain forgot all about the extensions settings ... I guess it's one of those "set and forget" things. Silly me :-}

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

    Cheers

For some reason, when I go to the extensions panel, refresh, etc. I don't see the PT extensions. The only custom one being loaded is Wygwam.

I've tried updating, re-uploading and installing everything but no dice. I'm using EE 2.2.2, LV 1.3.6, PT FieldTypes 1.03.

    Thanks Low!

Are you sure the P&T fieldtypes (the LV compatible ones are List, Pill and Switch) are installed under Add-ons -> Fieldtypes?

And you are trying to enable them under Add-ons -> Extensions -> Low Variables?

Yes to both, absolutely. I had to do the Wygwam hotfix, so I updated to the latest Wygwam, so I'm using 2.3.4.1 - still, Wygwam's never been a problem.

Is there a way to disable and re-enable Low Variables without erasing my variables setup or content? I think I've tried disabling/re-enabling Low Variables before (in a 1.x setup, however) and always have had to export from the database first and reimport it when I'm done — I'm just thinking that disabling/re-enabling might help.

Disabling/enabling variable types in the extension settings should not delete any existing settings.

Could you send me SuperAdmin login credentials so I can take a look myself? You can send the info to hi at gotolow dot com.

For visibility: turns out the P&T Field Pack was installed, but the LV-compatible List, Pill and Switch were not.

And I am giving myself a *facepalm.* Thanks Low!
