Compatibility & Requirements

Low Variables v2.0.0+ is compatible with version EE 2.2.0+. Earlier versions are compatible with EE 1.6.8+ and EE2.0.2+. The EE1 compatible version requires the CP jQuery extension to be enabled to function properly.

Installation

The installation package contains both the newest version compatible with EE 2.2.0+ and the last stable version compatible with EE1, v1.3.7. One license allows you to install one of these versions on a live website.

ExpressionEngine 2

  • Download and unzip Low Variables. You need the files inside the ee2 folder.
  • Copy the system/expressionengine/third_party/low_variables folder to your /system/expressionengine/third_party directory.
  • Copy the themes/third_party/low_variables folder to your /themes/third_party directory.
  • In your Control Panel, go to Add-ons → Extensions enable the Low Variables extension and module.
  • In the extension settings, enter your License Key and enable the variable types you need, then save your settings (when installing).
  • All set!

ExpressionEngine 1

  • Download and unzip Low Variables. You need the files inside the ee1 folder.
  • Copy the system/modules/low_variables folder to your /system/modules/ directory.
  • Copy the ext.low_variables_ext.php file to your /system/extensions/ directory.
  • Copy the lang.low_variables_ext.php files to your /system/language/english/ directory.
  • Copy the themes/third_party/low_variables folder to your /themes/third_party directory.
  • In your Control Panel, go to Admin → Utilities → Extensions Manager and enable the Low Variables extension. This will also install the Low Variables module.
  • In the extension settings, enter your License Key and enable the variable types you need, then save your settings (when installing).
  • All set!

Upgrade

To upgrade Low Variables from a previous version, download and overwrite the files as per the installation instructions. Then just visit the module page in your Control Panel, and the add-on will be upgraded automatically.
