Do away with the native Snippets or Global Variables—Low Variables gives you both in a single interface and lets you do so, so much more. Want to group your variables? No problem. Want to choose which variables are parsed early and which ones are not? Check. Want to save your variables as files on the server? Yes, you can! Want to have control over who can edit the variables? You got it. Want to have different variable types, just like field types? It ships with 12 variable types built in and there are several third party types available.
And it doesn’t end there. You can add notes to groups and variables. You can sort both using drag and drop. You can clone variables, batch-create them and duplicate whole groups. There’s a Low Variables fieldtype, so you can add global variables to your channel entries. There’s even an API so you can create your own variable types or create Low Variables compatible field types. Check out this list of Low Variables compatible field types.
Low Variables was Devot:ee Editor’s Pick, November 2012.

Low Variables could be the best module/add-on for ExpressionEngine I’ve seen yet.
So this year in 2012, I used Low Variables in June for the first time. [...] And it’s so awesome.
